Creative interiors born from the desire to design functional, liveable spaces that tap into the emotional life of their owners is the hallmark of Sebastian Salas Studio. Peruvian-born Sebastian set up his eponymous studio in 2020 after more than a decade in the interiors and construction industry. Extensively travelled and with a background in industrial engineering, he works across both residential and commercial spaces. An innate understanding of the hospitality world has enabled him to bring a sense of scale and generosity to domestic settings, while his work on private homes informs a sense of playful intimacy in his commercial designs. That crossover is, he believes, key to the success of his work.

‘Storytelling, whether on a grand or intimate scale, is the backbone of a memorable project,’ says the designer, who grew up in Lima. ‘Perhaps given my own upbringing, I have always been drawn to stories with a hint of magical realism, passed down from generation to generation. As a result, my schemes often include an unexpected or unusual element.’

Since the studio opened in 2020, it has grown organically to encompass restaurant design, new-builds, period properties and contemporary work spaces, always with an emphasis on creating a physical expression of a client’s experiences, with a global twist.
